Jeremie Casabon, Nathan Cox to play in championship match Monday morning

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — The Vanderbilt doubles team of senior Jeremie Casabon and sophomore Nathan Cox reached the finals of the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championship with a straight-sets victory on Sunday.

The win came on the same day Cox played in the singles quarterfinals.

The No. 40 team in the nation, Casabon and Cox were winners over Ball State’s Jacks Lancaster and Mason Tran at Chattanooga’s Champions Club at Riverfront Park.

The second-seeded Casbon and Cox will now face fifth seeds Pablo Alemany and Charlie Barry of Memphis in Monday’s championship match.

Cox fell in three sets in the singles quarterfinals when eventual finalist Pau Fanlo of Memphis came from behind to win. It was the fourth consecutive three-set match for Cox, who was the event’s fourth seed and is ranked 119th in the nation.

Cox has won nine of his 10 matches this week in Chattanooga.
