NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt fell 6-5 in the series finale against No. 16 Oklahoma on Saturday at Hawkins Field.
The Sooners limited the Vanderbilt offense to three hits and took advantage of a pair of errors along with 10 walks.
Brodie Johnston tallied two of Vandy’s three hits including a three-run homer, his 11th of the season.
The Sooners scored first with a three-run top of the third. Vanderbilt answered with a pair of runs in the home half without recording a hit. Two walks, a hit-by-pitch and a wild pitch allowed the Dores to pull back within one.
Oklahoma made it 5-2 with an RBI single in the fourth and an RBI double in the fifth.
Carter Johnstone grabbed Vanderbilt’s first hit in the bottom of the fifth. Mike Mancini was hit by a pitch to put two runners on base for Johnston. Johnston launched a game-tying, three-run blast to center field to even the score at 5-5.
Oklahoma plated the go-ahead run in the eighth on a single by Kyle Branch.
Vandy got the tying run on base in the bottom of the ninth but the Sooners held on to win 6-5.
The Commodores (21-16, 7-8 SEC) make the quick trip to Lipscomb on Tuesday to face the Bisons at 6 p.m. at Ken Dugan Field.
