Pregame Notes
• Vanderbilt is in its 125th year of organized football.
• The Commodores wore black helmets and pants with gold jerseys for the first time this season.
• Vanderbilt won the toss and elected to receive the ball in the first half.
• Attendance was 33,386.
• Vanderbilt captains for the game were Andrew East, Joe Townsend, Kyle Woestmann and Vince Taylor.
Team Notes
• True freshman Wade Freebeck started at QB making him the first true freshman to start at QB for the Commodores since David Wallace started against Alabama in 1998. Freebeck becomes the fifth true freshman quarterback to start since 1975.
• The Commodores have now scored in all three phases of the game this season, scoring on offense, defense and special teams.
• Vanderbilt’s 20 points in the first half were the most this season.
• The victory was Head Coach Derek Mason’s first career victory as a head coach.
Individual Notes
• True freshman Wade Freebeck started at QB making him the first true freshman to start at QB for the Commodores since David Wallace started against Alabama in 1998. Freebeck becomes the fifth true freshman quarterback to start since 1975.
• Wade Freebeck’s first career pass was complete to C.J. Duncan for three yards.
• Jonathan Wynn recorded his first career sack in the first quarter.

• Chandler Dorrell caught his first pass as a Commodore with a 10-yard grab from Patton Robinette in the second quarter.
• Patton Robinette scored the Commodores’ first offensive touchdown of the season from a yard out in the second quarter on a quarterback keeper.
• Adam Butler pounced on a fumble in the end zone for a touchdown in the second quarter for his first career TD.
• DeAndre Woods made his collegiate debut late in the first half on offense.
• Steven Scheu caught his first touchdown pass of the season near the end of the first pass on a three-yard pass from Patton Robinette.
• Patton Robinette scored TDs on the ground and through the air in the first half, rushing for a score from one yard out and throwing a three-yard touchdown.
• Stephen Weatherly notched his third sack of the season on the opening play of the second half.
• Ralph Webb crossed the 100-yard mark in the third quarter with a seven-yard run to make him the first Commodore freshman to rush for 100 yards in a game since Brian Kimbrow ran for 137 yards against Presbyterian (9/15/12) and first Dore since Jerron Seymour (109 yards, vs. UAB 9/28/13) to rush for 100 yards in a game.
• Stephen Weatherly blocked a punt and returned it for a touchdown in the fourth quarter for the Commodores’ second special teams score of the season.
• Ralph Webb scored his first career touchdown late in the fourth quarter to give the Commodores the lead running in from the four-yard line.
• Colby Cooke averaged 42.3 yards per punt, placing three of his six punts inside the 20-yard line.
• Patton Robinette matched his career-best with 15 completions in the win.
• Ralph Webb set new career-high marks with 116 yards on 26 carries.
• C.J. Duncan caught a career-best four passes for 72 yards, including a 36-yard catch late in the fourth quarter that led to the Dores’ go-ahead TD.
• Nigel Bowden and Caleb Azubike led the team with seven tackles apiece with Tre Bell making a team-high five solo stops.
• Caleb Azubike matched his career-best and season total with two sacks in the game.
• Caleb Azubike also made a career-high three tackles for loss to lead the defense on Saturday.
Offensive Notes
• Patton Robinette scored the Commodores’ first offensive touchdown of the season from a yard out in the second quarter on a quarterback keeper.
• The Commodores rushed for over 100 yards in the first half, led by Ralph Webb’s 86 yards on 17 carries.
• Vanderbilt’s 34 points are the most in a game this season and the most in a regular season game since the win at Florida last season.
• The Dores ran for a season-best 150 yards, let by Ralph Webb’s career-high 116 yards.
• The offense was a perfect 3-for-3 in the red zone, scoring three TDs.
• Seven different Commodores caught at least one pass in the game with C.J. Duncan’s career-high four catches leading the way.
• Four Commodore freshmen (Wade Freebeck, Ralph Webb, C.J. Duncan & Chandler Dorrell) combined for 210 yards of total offense in the game.
Defensive Notes
• The Commodores held UMass to 17 yards rushing in the first half.
• Vanderbilt held the Minutemen to 88 yards on 39 attempts for an average of 2.3 yards per carry.
• Nigel Bowden and Caleb Azubike led the team with seven tackles apiece with Tre Bell making a team-high five solo stops.
• Vanderbilt’s three sacks in the game matched the team’s season-high total from last week vs. Ole Miss.
• The Commodores’ freshmen combined for 33 tackles in the game.
