NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt Athletics is providing support to the flood relief efforts in Columbia, S.C., and the University of South Carolina by holding a drive to collect and transport water and new generators to those in need.

The drive will be held Thursday, October 8 from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. on Vanderbilt’s campus. At that time, people can donate water or new generators to drop points at Gate 2 of Vanderbilt Stadium and in front of McGugin Center. All donated items will be delivered via Vanderbilt’s football equipment truck to the University of South Carolina and the Red Cross of South Carolina this weekend.

The equipment truck will be staged outside Gate 2 of Vanderbilt Stadium, located at the corner of Natchez Trace and Jess Neely Drive. A tent will also be staged in front of McGugin Center at 2601 Jess Neely Drive.

Vanderbilt student-athletes and staff members will be on site at each location to accept the donations and help with unloading your supplies.

Please note that Vanderbilt will only accept bottled water and new generators at drop-off locations.

Those looking to make monetary contributions can do so through the Red Cross by donating online at www.redcross.org/southcarolina, or by texting REDCROSS to 90999. Contributions may also be sent to P.O. Box 9035, Greenville, SC 29604.

Nashville and the surrounding areas saw the devastation that flooding can cause in communities firsthand just five years ago, and this is one opportunity for us to support a fellow Southeastern Conference member and community at a time of need.
