Vanderbilt Ready for Tourney Time

The Commodores will face Temple on Thursday at the AAC Tournament

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt takes on Temple in the first round of the 2022 AAC Tournament at 6:15 p.m. CT on Thursday in Greenville, North Carolina with action airing live on ESPN+.

• The 3-seeded Commodores and 2-seeded Owls last played on April 2 at Temple with the Dores falling 20-9.
• Vanderbilt is looking for its first AAC Tournament victory in its third appearance.
• Vanderbilt defeated Cincinnati 23-7 on Saturday in Nashville to clinch a spot in the conference tournament.
• Gabby Fornia was named IWLCA Co-Offensive Player of the Week and AAC Attacker of the Week after breaking her own Vanderbilt and AAC single-game records for points (13) and assists (10). Both marks are best in NCAA DI this season.
• Callie Sundin scored a career-high six goals in the win and earned AAC Weekly Honor Roll honors. Maddie Souza scored five goals for the second consecutive games.
• Vanderbilt’s 23 goals finished one goal shy of matching the school record.
• Vanderbilt placed three Dores on the All-AAC first team, tied with Temple for second most in the league.
• Gabby Fornia, Bri Gross and Melissa Hawkins were all unanimous selections to the first team. Maddie Souza, Karlie Bucci and Kayla Rieu were named second-team All-AAC.
• Fifth-year senior Gabby Fornia became the first AAC women’s lacrosse player to earn three first-team All-AAC honors.
