Vanderbilt opens home schedule against Arkansas

Nov. 3, 2017

The Vanderbilt swim team returns to competition as they welcome the Arkansas Razorbacks to Nashville Saturday, November 4 at 1 p.m. at Centennial SportsPlex. The dual meet against the conference rival is the 2017-18 home opener for the Dores.

Vandy comes into the dual after dominating the podium in their most recent meet, running away with a 151-53 victory over North Florida in Jacksonville on October 12. Nine different Vanderbilt swimmers won races in that meet.

After winning in North Florida, Vanderbilt had a three-week long break from meets, but Head Coach Jeremy Organ expects his team to stay focused during the lull in competition.

“We’ve been trying to ramp up a bit in practice,” Organ said. “It’s great to be back home, but we need to crank out some good swims”.

Despite the great performance in Jacksonville, Coach Organ said the meet against North Florida was in the rear view mirror as the team trains for Arkansas as they get into the heart of their schedule. Following Saturday’s dual, Vanderbilt competes in three more dual meets and travels to Houston twice for competitions, all in the next three months.

SCOUTING THE RAZORBACKS

The Razorbacks are no stranger to Vanderbilt, having competed against the Dores six times since 2010, and will compete against Vanderbilt twice in 2017-18, the first time during Saturday’s dual and then again in a tri-meet in Houston.

Saturday’s meet is free to the public, and the first 100 fans to the dual will receive a free Vanderbilt swimming t-shirt.
