Vanderbilt mourns loss of Tom Wittenbraker

 

Former Vanderbilt baseball player Tom Wittenbraker passed away on Nov. 17. He lettered for the Commodores in 1970 and 1971 playing for head coach Larry Schmittou. The 1970 Commodores finished the season on a 10-game winning streak and carried that momentum into the 1971 season when the team won the Southeastern Conference East division for the first time in school history. The ’71 season was the first of four straight SEC East titles for the Dores with the team winning the SEC title in 1973 and 1974.

Wittenbraker graduated from Vanderbilt in 1971 before moving on to law school at the University of Texas.
