NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt stumbled Tuesday night in a 10-2 loss to Indiana State at Hawkins Field.
The Sycamores totaled 11 hits and drew 10 walks while Vanderbilt left 10 runners on base.
Indiana State struck first with a pair of runs on two hits and two walks to take a 2-0 lead in the top of the fourth.
The Sycamores extended their lead with a three-run homer in the top of the fifth and tacked on four more in the sixth to lead 9-0.
Enrique Bradfield Jr. notched his 200th career hit and stretched his on-base streak to 27 games with an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh that put the Dores on the board. Jonathan Vastine led off the inning with a walk, stole second and scored on Bradfield’s single.
Both teams notched a run in the ninth. Chris Maldonado singled up the middle for a pinch-hit RBI, scoring T.J. McKenzie from second.
RJ Schreck led Vanderbilt with two hits and a walk.
Vanderbilt hits the road for three televised contests at Tennessee beginning Friday in Knoxville. Game 1 starts at 5 p.m. CT on SEC Network. Games 2 and 3 will both air on ESPN2. Saturday’s game is slated for 11 a.m. and Sunday’s contest is set for noon.
