Vanderbilt Baseball Signs Seven Players to NLI 12-3-03 Nashville, Tenn. – Vanderbilt Head Baseball Coach Tim Corbin has announced the signing of seven players for the 2005 season, including three players from Tennessee, two from Texas and one from California and Florida. Corbin’s three Tennessee players are Scott Pettus (6-0, 180, R/R, RHP, Franklin, Tenn., Mongomery Bell Academy); David Price (6-5, 195, L/L, LHP/CF, Murfreesboro, Tenn., Blackman High School); and Kyle Waldrop (6-5, 205, R/R, RHP/1B, Knoxville, Tenn., Farragut High School). “Our goals were to sign the best players in the state of Tennessee and find tough, talented, athletic players and we did just that. A recruiting class can’t be measured until two-to-three years down the road, but these recruits will have an impact on our program sooner than later,” Corbin said. “David Price and Kyle Waldrop are two of the best players in the state of Tennessee as well as the country. Both were highly sought after by other SEC and ACC schools. They both possess great size (6’5) and are two-way players with tremendous athletic ability. “We were also very happy to sign Scott Pettus from Montgomery Bell Academy. Scott is a very competitive guy on the mound who was also a receiver on the state championship football team.” Corbin also signed two players from Texas in Shea Robin (5-10, 175, R/R, IF, The Woodlands, Texas, The Woodlands High School) and David Macias (5-10, 170, RS/R, IF, The Woodlands, Texas, The Woodlands High School). “Shea Robin and David Macias are two very good players from nationally-ranked Woodlands High School in Houston, Texas. Robin was one of the more accomplished hitters that our recruiting coordinator (Erik Bakich) saw all summer and Macias is a speed-type athlete who can play multiple positions.” Rounding out Corbin’s second recruiting class are Alex Feinberg (5-11, 170, R/R, SS, Orinda, Calif., Miramonte High School) and Dominic De La Osa (6-1, 180, R/R, SS/3B, Coral Gables, Fla., Archbishop Carroll High School). “We also were very fortunate to sign two accomplished infielders in Alex Feinberg from northern California and Dominic De La Osa from Miami, Fla.. These two can really play the game and were highly recruited by some great schools.” Corbin concluded. The Commodores, whose 2004 recruiting class was ranked No. 24 by Collegiate Baseball, open the 2004 season with a three-game home series with Southern Illinois at Hawkins Field.
