NASHVILLE, Tenn. – With the holiday season in full swing, Vanderbilt athletics and Fanatics have teamed up to offer fans an official piece of Hawkins Field history with the sale of used turf from the facility.
Fans can choose between five collectibles ranging from $39.99 to $179.99. Each memento showcases a unique piece of turf that graced the facility for seven seasons. Vanderbilt student-athletes who played on this turf include 21 All-Americans, two SEC Player of the Year winners, 49 MLB draft picks, eight first round draft picks, three College World Series teams and two NCAA national championship teams.
Items are now on sale through the Fanatics and Fanatics Authentic website. In addition to the 10×18 and 20×24 team collages, fans can choose from 12×15 player plaques featuring Major League standouts Walker Buehler (Los Angeles Dodgers), Dansby Swanson (Atlanta Braves) and Mike Yastrzemski (San Francisco Giants).
Following the Commodores second national championship in six seasons, the turf was excavated and replaced with a new playing surface in time for the 2020 season.
