NASHVILLE, Tenn. –The Vanderbilt baseball team will play the first of two midweek road games Tuesday against Lipscomb at 6 p.m. at Ken Dugan Field.

The Commodores are 32-6 overall and 9-6 in SEC play after taking two of three at Kentucky over the weekend. VU is 23-0 in non-conference action with four midweek games remaining on the schedule.

Lipscomb is 22-16 on the year after sweeping a three-game set over East Tennessee State in Johnson City over the weekend.

Vanderbilt leads the all-time series over Lipscomb 40-9 after defeating the Bison 16-7 on Feb. 20. The two teams split the season series in 2006 with the Commodores winning 16-3 at Ken Dugan Field on April 12, while the Bison rallied from a late 8-4 deficit to defeat VU 11-8 at Hawkins Field on May 8.

Sophomore right hander Brett Jacobson (5-1, 3.26 ERA) is slated to start. Jacobson gave up three runs on eight hits with four strikeouts and no walks in four innings of action in his last start against Belmont last Wednesday.

The Commodores remained in the top spot in four of the five polls this week. Baseball America, the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Associaton, ESPN/Sports Weekly and Rivals.com all had VU at No. 1, while Collegiate Baseball ranked the team No. 3.

After the Tuesday contest against Lipscomb, Vanderbilt will head to Murfreesboro to take on Middle Tennessee on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
