Tigers Come to Town

No. 16 Vanderbilt set to host No. 6 LSU on Friday for ranked clash

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — No. 16 Vanderbilt women’s tennis returns home for another ranked matchup against No. 6 LSU on Friday.

It will be the sixth straight ranked contest for the Dores and the third top-10 opponent of the season. Vandy is 31-17 all-time against LSU, defeating the Tigers in their last two matchups. LSU has not won in Nashville since 2021.

Vanderbilt went 1-1 last week with a loss to No. 8 Auburn before knocking off No. 22 Florida. The win over the Gators was the first time all season the Dores lost at their top two singles positions but went on to capture a match victory. Sophomore Valeria Ray remains the team and conference leader in total singles wins with 27. Senior Célia-Belle Mohr tops Vandy in the ITA singles rankings at No. 11, generating seven ranked singles victories for the Dores thus far. Mohr, along with freshman Sophia Webster, make up the team’s highest-ranked doubles duo at No. 14.

LSU comes into Nashville sitting third in the conference standings. The Tigers are 6-1 on the road, having dropped their first away contest 6-1 at No. 3 Texas A&M on Sunday. No. 42-ranked Cadence Brace and No. 50 Kayla Cross, both freshman, lead the team in singles wins. Cross was a former Vanderbilt commit before decommitting and joining LSU. Together, the two are ranked No. 7 in the ITA doubles rankings.

No. 16 Vanderbilt (13-4, 6-3 SEC) hosts No. 6 LSU (17-3, 7-2 SEC) tomorrow at 2 p.m. Live streaming will be available online, with live stats accessible here at the start of the match.
