Taylor Stokes to be featured on ESPNU

Dec. 28, 2009

Taylor Stokes came out of Clarksville, Tenn., to become Vanderbilt’s first African-American scholarship football player in 1969. He left Nashville disillusioned and, more importantly, without a degree. Forty years later, with the help of some Vanderbilt faculty and administrators, Taylor had earned the credits he lacked and triumphantly walked across the stage last May with diploma in hand.

ESPNU recently came to Vanderbilt to capture his remarkable story. It will be aired on ESPNU’s SEC Academic Special Show on Tuesday, Dec. 29 at 10 p.m. (CT) and shown again December 31 at 5 p.m.
