NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt senior Amanda Taylor was named to the Southeastern Conference Community Service Team, the league office announced on Wednesday morning. The honor marks the second straight year that Taylor has been a member of the community service team.
When not helping lead the Commodores to victory on the tennis court, Taylor is very active in the Nashville community. She has been involved with organizations such as Habitat for Humanity and the Boys & Girls Club of Nashville. The Richland, Wash., native tutors third grade children at McKissack Middle School in multiple subjects and also spent time with children at the Safe Haven Family Shelter during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.
Taylor is also President of the Vanderbilt chapter of Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She is also a representative on the Vanderbilt Student Athlete Advisory Community.
The SEC sponsor community service teams in all 20 sports. The community service team looks to highlight athletes from each school who gives back to their community in superior service efforts.
