PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – Amanda Taylor lost a hard-fought, three-set match to No. 14 Laura Vallverdu of Miami (Fla.) in the second round of the Riviera/ITA Women’s All-American Championships.
“I thought it was a well-fought match,” assistant coach Aleke Tsoubanos said. “Amanda had a lot of opportunities. I think you have to give a lot of credit to Vallverdu. She fought back well when she was down. It’s a great learning experience for Amanda. I think there’s a lot to build on.”
No. 20 Taylor won the first set 6-4 over Vallverdu. Vallverdu bounced back to win the next two sets 6-4, 6-4.
