TULSA, Okla. — Amanda Taylor and Courtney Ulery saw their doubles season come to an end as they lost in straight sets to Romy Farah and Laura Vallverdu in the opening round of the NCAA Doubles Championships on Thursday afternoon at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa.
The loss marks the final match at Vanderbilt for Taylor. The senior from Richland Wash., enjoyed one of the most decorated careers in Vanderbilt women’s tennis history. She earned All-SEC honors all four years, including first team honors her last three years as a Commodore. Taylor finishes her career with an 83-52 doubles record.
The Vanderbilt duo, ranked 21st nationally, led in the opening set 4-3, but No. 20 Farah and Vallverdu came back to win the next three games to claim the first set 6-4. The Miami pair won the second set 6-2 to advance to the second round to face the top seeded team of Tracey Lin and Riza Zalameda from UCLA.
Taylor and Ulery close the year with a 15-9 record in doubles.
