NASHVILLE, TENN. –
Vanderbilt swim coach Jeremy Organ announced that Mary Beckwith (Marietta, Ga.) has signed a letter of intent to attend Vanderbilt University and swim for the Commodores.
“We’re very excited to have Mary (Beckwith) join the team next year,” said Organ. “She’s really going to help out our backstroke group. She was somebody who we thought really fit in with the vision we have and how we’re going to get better, we’re looking forward to her being a part of that process”
Ranked No. 25 in the state of Georgia, Beckwith swam for Walton High School as a four-time finalist at the Georgia High School 6-A State Swimming Championships. In her junior season with the Raiders, Beckwith won the 200 free consolation and finished 12th the 100-yard backstroke. On the Club level, Beckwith competes with Stingray swimming.
“We recruited Mary (Bechwith) specifically to help out our backstroke department, but Mary is a very smart kid,” said assistant coach Angie Nicolletta. Walton High School is a very academically strong high school in the state of Georgia. The team really loved her when she came for her visit, so we’re looking forward to her coming to Vandy next year.”
