NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Vanderbilt swim team will be back in the pool this weekend when it heads to New Orleans to to take on Tulane. The ‘Dores, who have dropped their last four meets to the Green Wave, will swim at the Reily Center Natatorium, Saturday at 11 a.m.
The Commodores have put in three full weeks of practice following their early season losses to Auburn and Texas A&M, and will look to make big improvements in their first non-conference meet.
“Our practices have been really great,” said Vandy head coach Jeremy Organ. “It has been nice to have a big block of time to work with the team and improve, but now we are excited to get back at it and race.”
Despite not being able to come away with the win in four meets with Tulane, Vanderbilt has kept it close. In the last three meets the two teams have been separated by no more than 30 points, and in two of the last three they have been separated by no more than nine points. The difference between a win and a loss for the ‘Dores has come in the diving events.
The Commodores hosted the Green Wave, last season in a tri-meet with Western Kentucky.
Vandy won 10 events over Tulane last year, and fell 148-139. The difference in the meet came in the one- and three-meter diving events, where two Green Wave divers scored points for the team.
Next on the schedule for Vanderbilt is a trip to Lynchburg, Va., for a meet with Liberty on November 8, at 4:00 p.m. CT.
