“Two weeks ago we made our first of two trips to Miami this December. The weather was gorgeous both days that we were there. We practiced outside in the sunshine on Friday and swam against the University of Miami on Saturday. It was different than our other meets this year, due to the fact that it was outdoors. Some of us grew up swimming outside year-round, others swam outside only in the summers, and some have never done so. It is definitely something that takes getting used to, but we enjoyed the switch and change of scenery during practice – the sky sometimes makes for a more interesting view while swimming backstroke than an indoor ceiling does…
“After the meet, Vandy swimming ventured to downtown Miami for an afternoon on the beach where we took a little time to relax before our flight back to Nashville. It was a great way to head into these last two stressful weeks of the semester. With winter break coming up, it is hard to think that we will be back there for our training trip in just under three weeks, but hopefully the weather will be as great as it was last weekend. We are hoping that we don’t encounter another “arctic chill” in Florida for our trip like we did last year when we swam in forty-degree weather. I guess we will just have to wait and see what the weather brings…”
