Swimmers' Stories Launches

Oct. 4, 2010

Beginning this season, fans will be able to check out the latest postings on the Vanderbilt swimming blog called Swimmers’ Stories. Between practice, meets and academics, junior Stephanie Falcone and freshman Laura Furr, along with guest bloggers, will be keeping the public up-to-date on what is going on with the Commodores swim team.

“We are less than a week away from our first meet at Southern Illinois. It’s hard to believe that we’ve already been practicing for over a month. We’ve made it through four weeks of Mark’s 300 workouts in the weight room and our afternoon runs back and forth from the pool. This past week was our first week with all of our morning practices included and I think we are all trying to figure out how to get enough sleep…getting up at 5:15 is rough on a college schedule.
“Our team has grown this year from sixteen to twenty-three. We have ten freshmen who have caught on quickly to Jeremy’s coaching style as well as Mark’s rules in the weight room. We have more entertainment than we did last year with the addition of Jeremy’s baby, Ella. She makes appearances at practice quite often and even in this year’s team photo shoot. Additionally, we have a new trainer, Katie Baldwin, who is with us at every practice and leads us in our Tuesday/Thursday shoulder rehab. We’re off to a good start and are very excited for our four home meets this year. Hopefully we can get some fans over to Centennial to cheer us on.”
