ATLANTA, Ga. — The Vanderbilt swimming and diving team finished the regular season Saturday with two dual meet losses, falling 193-88 to Georgia Tech and 173-105 to Emory.
Freshman Jennifer Molchan was one of the top performers for the Commodores (0-10 in dual meets) as she finished third in a pair of events. Molchan came in third in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:56.49 and also finished third in the 500-yard freestyle, recording a time of 5:15.46. Freshman Alex Jennings was just behind Molchan, finishing fourth in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:16.00.
Fellow freshman Leigh-Ann Axt was unable to continue her streak of winning at least one race in every dual meet this season. Axt did record two runner-up finishes. Axt was second in the 200-yard butterfly, swimming the distance in 2:04.94, only six tenths of a second behind the first-place finisher. Axt also finished second in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 58.10.
Vanderbilt now sets its sights on the SEC Swimming and Diving Championships, which begin February 20 in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
