Summer Dores

An update of Commodores in their respective summer leagues

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Several members of the Vanderbilt baseball roster are taking part in collegiate summer leagues spread across the United States. Below is an update on some of the Commodore standouts so far:

Spencer Jones, a California native, is pacing the Brewster Whitecaps with 18 runs batted in through 25 contests and carries a .312 average at the plate in 77 tries. Jones’ 18 RBI are tied for the most on the Whitecaps.

Chris McElvain brings a 2-0 mark in part to fanning 13 and only issuing walks to 4 across 13.0 frames tossed. Hunter Owen, a product of Maine, has struck out 18 across 15 innings pitched.

Patrick Reilly and Thomas Schultz have combined to retire 25 across 23.0 innings for the Orleans Firebirds. Reilly has yet to surrender a run in ten innings thrown. Schultz’s three free passes is among the lowest of all Firebirds hurlers.

Dominic Keegan has belted five home runs and driven in nine runs in thirteen contests played for the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox. Those five longballs are second among Yarmouth-Dennis. The junior righty from Methuen, Massachusetts native is batting .302 and playing behind the plate.

Away from Cape Cod, TJ McKenzie has made his presence known in the South Florida College Baseball League for the Boynton Beach Buccaneers. The Loxahatchee, Florida native has roped 29 hits and bringing home 15 runs in 35 games, all while carrying a .312 mark at the dish. McKenzie was also crowned champion of the 2021 SFCBL Home Run Derby with a spectacular performance in the event.
