NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt’s RJ Austin, Miller Green, Ethan McElvain and Brennan Seiber were named to the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team on Friday with Vanderbilt’s four selections leading all schools.
The 57 players selected are split into two squads, one competing in the International Friendship Series and the other in the Summer League Tour. Austin is on the International Friendship Series roster and Green, McElvain and Seiber are on the Summer League Tour.
Both rosters began action Saturday as the 21st USA vs. Chinese Taipei International Friendship Series kicked off at Segra Stadium in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Game 3 of the series will also be at the National Training Complex on Monday before the two sides face off at First National Bank Field (Greensboro, North Carolina) on Tuesday. The series finale will be on Wednesday at Atrium Health Ballpark in Kannapolis, North Carolina.
The Summer League Tour got underway Saturday at the National Training Complex as the U.S. took on the Coastal Plain League Select Team. Team USA hits the road to take on the Appalachian League East Select Team on Monday at Calfee Park in Pulaski, Virginia. The stars and stripes complete their four-game Summer League Tour on Tuesday against the Appalachian League West Select Team at TVA Credit Union Ballpark in Johnson City, Tennessee.
Following the conclusion of both team’s slates, the International Friendship Series roster and the Summer League Tour roster will meet for a Fourth of July contest at Segra Stadium in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
Elsewhere, Commodores continue to compete in their respective summer ball leagues.
Cape Cod League
- Camden Kozeal’s (Bourne) four doubles are tied for most in the league
- JD Rogers (Brewster) is third in the league with eight stolen bases
- Braden Holcomb (Bourne) is hitting .292 with a team-high 14 hits including a double and four RBI
- Alex Kranzler (Orleans) has made three appearances, recording 4.1 scoreless innings
Northwoods League
- RJ Hamilton (La Crosse) has 20 hits with five doubles and 12 RBI
NECBL
- Colin Barczi (Sanford) is hitting .286 with three homers, a pair of doubles and 10 RBI
