Dr. Lauren Porras
Dr. Lauren Porras joined Vanderbilt Athletics staff as a team physician in October 2021, a role in which she works with the Commodore lacrosse program. She also serves in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery, as an associate professor at Vanderbilt and as the director of the Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship.
Porras was a member of the Departments of Family Medicine and Orthopedic Surgery at North Carolina-Chapel Hill for six years prior to coming to Vanderbilt, first as a clinical assistant professor before earning a promotion to associate professor in July 2021.
Porras earned her undergraduate degree in art history from Duke in 2007, where she also minored in photography and Spanish. She received a doctor of medicine degree from the Miami (Fla.) Miller School of Medicine in 2011, and completed an internal medicine residency at Duke in 2014 and a sports medicine fellowship at North Carolina-Chapel Hill in 2015.
Porras currently has active medical licenses in Tennessee and North Carolina, is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is board certified in sports medicine through the American Board of Emergency Medicine.
