Dr. Ashley Karpinos

Dr. Ashley Karpinos is the program director for the Vanderbilt Med-Peds Residency Program and team physician for the Commodore cross country, swimming, and track and field teams, having joined the staff in 2011.

She also serves as an associate professor of medicine in the Division of Internal Medicine and Public Health within the Department of Medicine at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center, an associate professor of pediatrics in the Division of Academic General Pediatrics and an associate professor of orthopaedic surgery in the Division of Sports Medicine.

Dr. Karpinos graduated summa cum laude from Kenyon (Ohio) College, earning a degree in molecular biology in 2003. She received her doctorate degree from Vanderbilt in 2007, adding a master’s degree in public health from the school in 2013. Dr. Karpinos completed her residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics (Med-Peds), followed by a VA Quality Scholars Fellowship and a Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship at Vanderbilt.

A member of the American Medical Society of Sports Medicine, American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Physicians, Dr. Karpinos and her husband have two children.
