
Carter Pickering
Assistant Director • Student Services (Football)
Carter Pickering joined the Vanderbilt Athletics staff as assistant director of student services in the Ingram Center for Student-Athlete Success in March 2025. In his role, he works directly with the Commodore football program.
He came to Vandy after more than two years serving at Pittsburgh, including as co-director of academic services for the Panther football team during the 2024 season. He joined Pitt’s staff as an academic counselor/learning specialist in January 2023 and was promoted to assistant director of academic services for football in the spring of 2024. Pickering also has a year-and-a-half experience as a graduate assistant in the Office of Athletics Academics at Mississippi State—where he worked with the Bulldogs’ football, men’s basketball, softball and men’s golf programs—and served as a soccer operations intern for the school in the fall of 2022.
A 2020 graduate of Texas A&M, Pickering received a bachelor’s degree in sport management while also minoring in business and working as a learning services assistant in the athletic department’s Center for Student-Athlete Services. He added a master’s degree in sport administration from Mississippi State in 2022.
