Educational Enhancement Coordinator • Learning Specialist
Akilah Humphries joined the staff as educational enhancement coordinator and learning specialist with Vanderbilt’s Ingram Center for Student-Athlete Success in May 2025.
She arrived in Nashville following nearly two years as an assistant athletic academic advisor at Florida Atlantic, where her responsibilities included providing one-on-one academic support for over 30 student-athletes while also designing and managing a life skills course for freshmen and developing a “Life After Sports” resource that featured career development, community service opportunities, NIL education and strategies for long-term success beyond athletics. Humphries also has a year of experience at the school as a coordinator for housing and residential education.
A 2021 Florida Atlantic graduate with a degree in communication studies, she added a master’s degree from the school in instructional technology in 2025. A native of Prattville, Alabama, Humphries’ mother is a Nashville native and her parents met at Tennessee State. In her free time she enjoys playing pickleball, thrifting, going to the movies, finding new coffee shops and collecting vinyl records.
