Stackhouse Earns Ben Jobe Award

Jerry Stackhouse named national minority coach of the year

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt men’s basketball head coach Jerry Stackhouse received national recognition on Thursday as he earned the Ben Jobe Award from CollegeInsider.com. The Ben Jobe Award is presented annually to the top Division I minority coach.

The award adds to Stackhouse’s growing resume. The SEC Co-Coach of the Year led Vanderbilt to a 22-15 record – the 22 wins are the fifth-most for the program over the last 30 seasons. The Dores finished 11-7 in the SEC tied for fourth in the regular season standings – the best finish for Vandy since 2011-12.

In SEC play, Vandy took down Kentucky twice, Florida twice, Tennessee, Auburn, Arkansas and Mississippi State among others. The 11 sec regular season wins are the most since 2015-16 and marked the third time in the last 30 seasons the Dores reached 11 SEC wins.

The recipient of the annual award is determined by a 10-member voting committee, which consists of current and former head coaches, as well as two senior staff members of collegeinsider.com.
