Aston Walter joined the Vanderbilt coaching staff in March of 2021 and serves as a graduate assistant, working primarily with the offense.
Walter spent the 2020 season as a graduate assistant with the running backs at Texas A&M-Commerce. The Lions did not play any games in the fall of 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
A running back for Rice, Walter led the Owls in rushing (771 yards), scoring (60 points) total touchdowns (10) and rushing touchdowns (8) in 2019. That season he topped 100 rushing yards in five of his seven conference games, the most by an Owl since joining Conference USA and the most by any Rice back in any conference since Ed Bailey had five in the Western Athletic Conference in 2004.
Walter, a Crosby, Texas, native received his bachelor’s degree in sport management from Rice in 2019.
