COACH CORBIN QUOTE: Liam has improved a great deal over the last 12 months. He has very good athletic ability, arm strength and possesses physical strength that is really starting to emerge in his offense. He is a well-rounded infielder who could play any four of the positions. Liam has great character and a genuine love for what he is doing, both academically and athletically.

2016 – Started as DH against Missouri 5/24 in SEC Tournament going 0-for-4… Started at DH for the third time in four games, going 1-for-3 with a RBI, run and stolen base in victory vs. Auburn 5/21… Singled twice and drove in a run for the second straight start as the DH in win vs. Auburn G2 5/19… Matched career-bests with three hits and two RBI in win over Morehead State 5/17… Singled in lone at-bat off the bench vs. Georgia 4/29… Doubled and scored in loss at Tennessee 4/23… Started as the DH for the first time in his career vs. Xavier 3/13 going 2-for-3 with one RBI… Hit his first career home run vs. Xavier 3/12, lining a two-run shot into the bleachers in left field… Singled and scored in win over Radford 3/9… Earned his first career start at 2B in second game at Stanford 3/3 going 0-for-3 with a run scored… Came off the bench to go 0-for-2 vs. UIC 2/27… Ripped his first hit of the season into the gap for a RBI-double against UIC 2/26… Came off the bench to play 3B and go 0-for-2 against San Diego 2/21… Drew walk in his season debut against San Diego 2/20.

HIGH SCHOOL – Lettered four years in baseball at Blair Academy in East Stroudsburg, Pa…. Served as team captain in 2013 and 2014… His team won the 2012, 2013, 2014 Prep A State titles… His 2013 team set the school record going 20-4… Named the 2014 New Jersey Star Ledger Prep Player of the Year… Played in the 2013 Area Code Games and East Coast Pro… Played summer ball for the Midland Redskins, where he teamed up with fellow Commodores Jeren Kendall and Brendan Spagnuolo.

ACADEMICS – Sabino is undecided on a major in his first year at Vanderbilt.

Son of Fabiana Benites and Ramon Sabino… Has two older sisters Haillie and Ashley Sabino… His dad immigrated from the Dominican Republic and his mother immigrated from Brazil… Favorites include: Derek Jeter (baseball player), New York Yankees (team), Mario Kart (video game), Forrest Gump, Saving Private Ryan, Savages, Wolf of Wall Street (movies), Family Guy and 30 for 30 (TV shows), Tom Hanks (actor), Drake, Kevin Gates, Lil Wayne and J. Cole (music), leftover steak and platanos (late night snack)… Roommates with Ro Coleman and Penn Murfee… Lists winning three straight state championships as his most memorable athletic moment… Chose Vanderbilt “to grow as an intellectual.”
