2015 – Struck out in his lone at-bat off the bench vs. Quinnipiac 3/11… Picked up his first career hit with an infield single in win over Evansville 3/3… Struck out in his first collegiate at-bat in Port Charlotte, Fla. vs. Indiana State.
High School – Lettered in baseball and football at Union City HS… Captain of the baseball team 2012-13… 2013 Tennessee Sports Writers Association All-State, Tennessee Baseball Report, All-State, Tennessee Baseball Coaches’ Association All-State… Team set a school record with 29 wins… Played with Jordan Rodgers (Tennessee), Matt Beaty (Belmont) and Drake Byrd (Belmont).
Academics – Parker was named to the 2015 Spring SEC Academic Honor Roll and also the 2013-2014 SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll. Parker is undecided on a major in his first year at Vanderbilt.
Personal – Drake Thomas Parker… Born 10/21/94 in Union City, Tenn…. Only child of Clay and Tammy… His family has owned a farm in Dukedom, Tenn. for nearly 100 years… Favorites include Dustin Pedroia (baseball player), St. Louis Cardinals (baseball team), Assassin’s Creed (video game), Forrest Gump, Zero Dark Thirty, Horrible Bosses (movies), Baseball Tonight, American Pickers (TV shows), Adam Sandler (actor), mom’s lasagna (meal), AC/DC, Guns n’ Roses, Red Hot Chili Peppers (musicians)… Says he would be in the military if not an athlete… Uses energetic as the one word to describe himself… Roommates with Ben Bowden… Chose Vanderbilt because “it was the best combination of academic and athletic excellence presented.”
