COACH CORBIN QUOTE: Struck out in his only at-bat vs. Radford 6/1 in NCAA Regional championship… Pitched two perfect innings with two strikeouts in SEC Tournament loss to Texas A&M 5/21… Aubrey came to us with many different skills on the mound (switch handed) and at the plate (switch hitter). He has condensed those skills in order to concentrate more on the offensive side of the game. As he progresses and continues to get stronger, Aubrey has a chance to generate power from both sides. He continues to improve nicely at the first base position.

2015 – Tossed a scoreless ninth inning to finish off win at Kentucky 5/1… Worked a scoreless frame at South Carolina 4/16 to finish off team’s ninth shutout of the season… Gave up a solo home run in his lone inning of work vs. Belmont 4/14… Picked up his first collegiate hit with a single vs. Illinois State 2/27 also pitching one inning, allowing one run on one hit with two strikeouts… Made his collegiate debut against Indiana State 2/21 in Port Charlotte, Fla. striking out as a pinch hitter.

HIGH SCHOOL – Lettered four years in baseball at Colquitt County HS… Team won back-to-back Region I-AAAAA championships and made the Class AAAAAA Elite 8 in 2013… 2013 Region 1-6A Hitter of the Year and Scholar Athlete… 2013 1-6A second team pitcher and first team infielder… Drafted in the 35th round by San Francisco in 2013.

ACADEMICS – McCarty is majoring in communication studies.

PERSONAL – Aubrey Frank McCarty… Born 1/24/95 in Moultrie, Ga…. Son of Frankie and Caroline… Has one sister, Rebekah Hines… Dad was a professional rodeo cowboy… Pitches with both arms and hits from both sides of the plate… Favorites include Chipper Jones (baseball player), Atlanta Braves (baseball team), Rodeo (non-baseball sport), Major League (movie), Duck Dynasty (TV show), Adam Sandler (actor), hamburgers (meal), Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Randy Houser (musicians), peanut butter and crackers (late night snack), Panama City Beach, Fla. (vacation spot)… Says he would be a farmer if not an athlete… Chose Vanderbilt for â?oegreat academics and baseball programs success.
