2008: Finished 7-6 with a 4.50 ERA in 16 appearances, including 14 starts… Tied for the team lead in wins, and was second on the team in strikeouts with 90…Made first collegiate appearance and picked up first save in season-opening win against Oregon State (2/22)…Pitched three innings of no-hit baseball, allowing two walks and striking out three against Oregon State…Recorded first career start in home-opener against Evansville…Received no decision against Evansville (2/27) after allowing no runs and five hits in four innings…Struck out three batters and walked two against the Purple Aces…Struck out career-high nine batters and allowed four runs in 7.1 innings to pick up first career win against Louisville (3/4)…Picked up second win of the season against Western Carolina (3/11), allowing one hit and one unearned run in four innings pitched…Made first SEC start against South Carolina (3/16) and picked up the victory, allowing two runs on five hits in 5.2 innings …Tied a then career high with nine strikeouts against the Gamecocks…Picked up fourth win of the season in relief against Arkansas, throwing three innings and allowing two runs on five hits…Pitched seven shutout innings against Mississippi State (4/12). Struck out 51 in 46 innings of work. Opponents hit just .209 off him. He was named a Cape Cod League All-Star reserve.

2007: Appeared in three games, did not allow a run while striking out one and walking two in 2.2 innings … Received Redshirt … Played for the Keane Swampbats of the New England Collegiate League over the summer. Made eight starts and went 2-3 with a 4.53 ERA with 37 strikeouts and 15 walks in 37.2 innings.

High School: Four-year letterwinner at Mt. Juliet High … Was a three-time all-district selection … Was the 9-AAA tournament MVP as a senior … Was the district MVP and also earned all-region and all-state honors as a junior in 2005 … Earned all-region honors in 2004 …Helped lead the team to the sectional playoffs in 2006, district championships in 2005-06 and regionals in 2004 … Two-year captain on the baseball team … Also lettered one season in basketball … Was the junior class president and member of the National Honor Society.
