Coach Corbin Quote: Alex has really started to flourish as a player. He had a great summer and followed up by playing well this fall. He could play any one of the three outfield positions. He can run, hit, displays gap power and has good energy for the game.

2008: Played in four games, getting three at-bats … Hit .297 (2nd highest on team) with five doubles, 17 RBIs and 12 stolen bases in 41 games for Holyoke in the New England Collegiate Baseball League over the summer. Posted the second-highest fielding percentage among position players (.973%).

2007: Redshirted.

High School: A PlayStation All-American as a senior at Lafayette High … Lettered in baseball and also played the tuba where he was a finalist for the National Falcone Tuba Competition … Earned all-state, All-Acadiana and all-district plaudits as a senior … Earned all-district honors in 2005 and helped lead team to state tournament … Member of the National Honor Society.

Personal: Alex Blake Hilliard … Born 12/21/87 …. Son of Quincy and Rubye Hilliard … Has a sibling, Cameron … Father is a world reknowned composer … A music education major… Favorites include Tiger Woods, movies School of Rock and For Love of the Game, Will Smith and musician Kirk Whalum … If he could have dinner with one person dead or alive, it would be with Jackie Robinson … Chose Vanderbilt because it is a great school with great baseball.
