GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Vanderbilt soccer tallied its eighth shutout of the season in a 2-0 victory at Florida on Friday afternoon. Goals from Ella Eggleston and Mia Gonzalez lifted the Commodores past the Gators.
With the win, the Commodores have now won four consecutive times in Gainesville, dating back to the 2018 season. It marks just the fourth time in program history that Vandy held Florida scoreless in a match.
Vanderbilt (8-2-5, 3-2-3) took 12 shots on target during the day, but it wasn’t until Ella Eggleston broke through with a goal in the 28th minute, her first score of the season and sixth of her career.

The Commodores extended their lead with a goal from Mia Gonzalez, marking her second score in black and gold. Fifth-year player Abi Brighton maneuvered past her defender inside the 18-yard box. She delivered a cross to the right post, where Gonzalez was able to tap it in to give the Dores its final advantage of the day.

Senior keeper Sara Wojdelko continued her impressive play, making two stops between the pipes and tallying her sixth clean sheet of the season, 10th of her career.
Despite controlling 51 percent possession, Florida (4-5-6, 1-4-2) was only allowed two shots on frame during the match. The Gators earned six corner kicks but the Commodore defense rallied to erase any chances. Goalkeeper Alex Goldberg made 10 stops during the day, the most by a Gator keeper this season.
Vandy closes the road portion of the regular season with a trip to LSU on Thursday night. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m. and can be seen on SEC Network.
