NORMAN, Okla. — No. 14 ranked and seventh-seeded Vanderbilt women’s tennis eyes a run at the 2026 SEC Women’s Tennis SEC Championship tournament hosted by Oklahoma starting with No. 10 seed Ole Miss on Wednesday.
Vanderbilt (19-8, 9-6 SEC) received a first-round bye and now has a date with the Rebels after Ole Miss (15-10, 6-9 SEC) shut out Kentucky 4-0 on Tuesday. The Commodores took the matchup between the two 5-2 earlier this season in Nashville. Vandy has only suffered five total defeats to Ole Miss in the all-time series and enters Wednesday’s contest on a seven-match win streak over the Rebels.
The Dores dropped one spot to No. 14 in the ITA team rankings after suffering defeats to No. 17 Florida and No. 4 Auburn. Vanderbilt has yet to drop three straight matches this season. In the individual rankings, graduate Célia-Belle Mohr and sophomore Sophia Webster come in at a team-high No. 6 ranking in doubles. Junior Valeria Ray and senior Bridget Stammel remain inside the top 15 at No. 11. In singles, No. 9 Stammel sits atop the list for the Dores. Graduate Célia-Belle Mohr trails at No. 24 with No. 30 Ray rounding out the black and gold on the singles list.
Emily Welker is the only Rebel currently in the singles rankings at No. 19. She joins Andrea Nova as the No. 9 ranked duo in the country. Ole Miss picked up singles wins from Brooklyn Olson and Riley Crowder for the team’s two points against Vanderbilt in the previous meeting. Crowder, Nova and Welker accounted for the Rebels’ three singles wins against Kentucky on Tuesday.
Seventh-seeded Vanderbilt faces No. 10 seed Ole Miss in the second round of tournament play on Wednesday at not before noon from the Headington Family Tennis Center in Norman, Oklahoma.
