NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt women’s tennis is set to begin SEC play, as the Commodores take on the Tigers of Missouri at the Lummis Family Tennis Center on Sunday.
The black and gold finished off its nonconference slate with a pair of wins over Xavier and Lipscomb on Friday. Missouri (6-2) makes its way to Music City trailing 12-1 in the all-time series with Vanderbilt; the Dores have notched 12 victories in a row, losing only the first match between both teams in 1981. The Tigers sit on a six match win streak after dropping their opening two contests. Gian Octa and Korina Roso lead the way for Mizzou in singles, both generating seven wins in dual match play. In doubles, Andrea Artimedi and Mary Brumfield top the Tigers in victories with four as a duo.
No. 42 ranked graduate Bridget Stammel and freshman Erin Pearce pace Vanderbilt in singles wins at nine, and sophomore Trinetra Vijayakumar is on the team’s longest singles streak after claiming her seventh consecutive victory against Lipscomb. Stammel and junior Valeria Ray, ranked No. 10 in doubles, enter Sunday having won eight in a row. Across three different doubles pairs and nine completed matches, the Commodores are 9-0 from their No. 2 doubles position. Vanderbilt has taken the doubles point in 11 of its 12 total matches.
First serve between Vanderbilt and Missouri is expected at 1:30 p.m. Streaming will be available online with live stats accessible here. For more information, updates and exclusive game day content, follow the Vanderbilt women’s tennis team, @VandyWTennis, on Instagram and X.
