NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Southeastern Conference on Wednesday announced its 2025 SEC Football Legends class presented by T-Mobile, a group that includes Vanderbilt’s Jordan Matthews.
Matthews and the rest of the class will be honored at the 2025 SEC Football “Weekend of Champions” Dec. 5-6 in Atlanta, highlighted by the annual SEC Legends Celebration presented by T-Mobile on Friday, Dec. 5 at the College Football Hall of Fame. The group will also be recognized prior to the SEC Football Championship Game, which will be held at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Saturday, Dec. 6.
Matthews was a standout for the Commodores during a four-year career that spanned from 2010-13, earning first-team All-America recognition from both USA Today and Athlon Sports and second-team honors from the Associated Press, Sports Illustrated and CBSSports.com his senior season. A two-time first-team All-SEC selection by the conference’s coaches and media, Matthews served as a team captain his final season while helping lead Vandy to a 9-4 mark after winning MVP honors at the BBVA Compass Bowl.
Originally from Madison, Alabama, Matthews remains the Dores’ all-time leader with 262 receptions, 3,759 receiving yards, 24 touchdown catches and 19 100-yard receiving games; in fact, he still sits atop the SEC’s career catches list and is second in league history in receiving yards. He continues to own Vandy season records as well after catching 112 balls for 1,477 yards—including nine 100-yard efforts—as a senior, and also currently stands in the top three on the list with 94 receptions for 1,323 yards the previous fall.
Following the conclusion of his collegiate career, Matthews competed in the 2014 Senior Bowl before going on to be chosen in the second round of the NFL Draft that spring with the 42nd selection overall by the Philadelphia Eagles. He would go on to play 11 seasons in the league with four different organizations, posting 274 receptions for 3,288 yards and 22 scores.
It was announced earlier in the month that Matthews has returned to the program as an offensive consultant.
