Injuries derailed Stankavage’s progress for the second straight season… Stankavage missed the entire season after suffering the leg injury during spring drills.

Stankavage did not see action during his second year on campus as a prospective quarterback… Suffered offseason leg injury that limited his ability to play.
2014
Stankavage did not see game action as a true freshman… Impressed teammates as a scout team quarterback during fall camp… Worked to add weight through solid conditioning effort during first year on campus.
High School
Senior captain… Two-year starter for Raleigh private school power… As senior QB, completed 247 of 408 passes for 3,564 yards and 34 TDs, helping Crusaders to 9-4 record and Class 3A state playoff run… Also rushed for 1,058 yards and 13 TDs… Named region’s Offensive Player of the Year and First Team Big 8 as senior… In 2012, threw for 1,920 yards and 28 TDs as Cardinal Gibbons were conference champions and had an 11-1 overall record… Played varsity basketball.

Shawn Anthony Stankavage… Working toward a degree in Economics… Born Oct. 3, 1995… Son of Scott Stankavage and Sue Walsh… Has four sisters, Sarah, Shelby, Ella and Jordan, and a brother, Leo… Dad played QB at University of North Carolina and in NFL with Denver Broncos; mom was an elite swimmer, qualifying for the 1980 Moscow Olympics in the 100-meter backstroke which was boycotted by the United States.
