Earned team[apos]s Strength & Conditioning Award at postseason banquet… Earned 12 consecutive starts at defensive tackle alongside Greg Billinger… Posted several season highs – 18 solo tackles, 31 total tackles, three tackles for loss and two defensed passes – in most productive year as Commodore… Started season strong in win over Western Carolina with five tackles and fumble recovery while sharing in quarterback sack… Career-high tackle total (7) came against Georgia Tech… Also had four tackles against Army, South Carolina and Kentucky.
2008
Became dependable performer in the interior defensive line during first season of substantial action… Played every game, earning starting assignments at tackle in 11 of 13 games… Played well in team[apos]s 16-14 victory over Boston College in Gaylord Hotels Music City Bowl, matching career high with four total tackles and a quarterback hurry… Another top outing came in narrow loss at Mississippi State, contributing four total tackles, including a pair of quarterback sacks.
2007
Became a contributor along defensive front despite struggling with lower leg injury much of the season… Saw action in five games at defensive tackle… Credited with one solo tackle in win over Miami (Ohio).
2006
Redshirted as a freshman… Earned team[apos]s postseason Defensive Scout Most Valuable Player Award… During season, received Defensive Scout of the Week honors after Arkansas game.

Senior captain… Three-year starter… Played offensive tackle, tight end and defensive end… Earned 5A Tennessee Mr. Football Lineman of Year Award, First Team 5A All-State by Associated Press and First Team All-Midstate by Nashville Tennessean… Two-time All-Area lineman… Achieved 68 tackles, five sacks, two forced fumbles and blocked kick as senior… Helped Bulldogs to second round of 5A playoffs for three straight years… Heavyweight wrestler… County champion in shot put and district winner in discus with 133[apos]4′ effort.

Adam Lyle Smotherman… Son of Fred Smotherman and Cinda Stiles… Youngest of five children… Dad is maintenance technician, mom is nurse… Admires older brother, Allen, a former U.S. Marine and Naval Academy grad… Senior class vice president and National Honor Society member… Volunteered at Christmas party for local elementary students… Prep teammates include Commodore starting OT James Williams… Smotherman is working toward degrees in Secondary Education and History from the Peabody College.
