  • The Commodores boast 19 returners in 2022, including veteran leadership in three graduate students and three seniors. Peyton Cutshall, Raegan Kelley and Ella Shamburger all return for their fifth season in Music City looking to improve on last season’s finish.
  • Vanderbilt concluded the 2021 regular season second in the SEC East and an 8-8-3 record.
  • The team also welcomes nonconference foes Western Kentucky, Providence, East Tennessee State and Lipscomb to town before opening conference play in mid-September.

Last Time Out

  • Vanderbilt opened the preseason with a draw against UAB. The Commodores found success dominating the midfield and winning tight battles in all three parts of the pitch. 

  • The Commodores outshot the Blazers 14-2 in the contest, including nine total shots in the latter half of play.

  • Splitting time in goal, both Sara Wojdelko and Kate Devine registered a save in Monday’s contest.

  • Fifth-year senior defender Shamburger spent all 90 minutes of the opening exhibition on the pitch for a team high. Fellow captain Maya Antoine recorded the second-most minutes on the field at 77. 

  • In the 2021 season finale, the Commodores saw their season end in heartbreaking fashion as they lost in the first round of the SEC Tournament on the penalty kick.

  • Vanderbilt will hit the road for their first away game of the year, and second of two exhibitions, when they face SEC foe Alabama on Saturday.

  • All-time the Commodores are 15-6-4 against the Crimson Tide. 

  • Last season Vanderbilt hosted the Crimson Tide where they boasted a 3-0 victory over the visiting Tide. Returning fifth-year seniors Cutshall and Kelley both scored in the victory, including Kelley’s two tallies less than two minutes apart to go up 3-0. Devine registered five saves in the shutout.

Up Next

  • The Commodores will open the regular season with a road trip to Indiana where they are set to face Evansville (Aug. 18) and Purdue (Aug. 21). The team then returns home to host Western Kentucky (Aug. 25) in the home opener.
