OXFORD, Miss. – Opening its final weekend of regular-season competition, No. 21 Vanderbilt dropped a 4-0 decision Thursday afternoon to No. 26 Ole Miss at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center.
After a doubles decision that saw Ole Miss (10-7, 6-5 SEC) take wins at Nos. 1 and 3, Anessa Lee and Marcella Cruz earned first-set singles wins with Lee cruising through the first set 6-0 and Cruz coming from behind to take a 7-5 win. Both matches went unfinished, though, as Vanderbilt (12-8, 4-8 SEC) dropped matches on Nos. 2, 3 and 5.
The Commodores will close the regular season on Saturday afternoon with a visit to No. 41 Mississippi State. First serve is slated for 1 p.m. CT. After that, it will turn its attention to the SEC Tournament in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, which is set to start on April 19.
