Price to pitch in Jackson Sunday

JACKSON, Tenn. – Former Commodore David Price, is scheduled to pitch Sunday, July 6 at Pringles Park in Jackson, Tenn., when his Montgomery Biscuits take on the hometown West Tenn. Diamond Jaxx. Pringles Park is located two hours west of Nashville, directly off I-40 at exit 85. All fans showing a Vanderbilt University ID card or a Middle Tennessee Drivers License will gain free admittance to Sunday’s game, which is scheduled to start at 4:35 p.m. CDT. Just mention that “It’s Good to be Gold” when you go to the Pringles ticket office. Sunday’s early-evening contest will wrap up a four-game series between the Biscuits and Diamond Jaxx.

Price, a Murfreesboro, Tenn., native, was selected by the Tampa Bay Rays first overall in 2007 after a three-year career at Vanderbilt. While a Commodore, Price compiled a 22-10 record with a 3.10 ERA and a school-record 441 strikeouts. He was named Collegiate Baseball’s National Co-Player of the Year in 2007, the first VU player to receive the award. He was also selected as the Southeastern Conference’s Pitcher of the Year in addition to being named a semifinalist for both the Golden Spikes (top college player) and Roger Clemens (top college pitcher) awards.

After six starts and a 4-0 record at Vero Beach in the Single-A ranks, Price has climbed to Double-A ball, joining the Montgomery Biscuits in the Southern League South Division. He is 1-0 in his only start with the Biscuits holding opposing batters to a .186 batting average.
