NASHVILLE, Tenn. – With the 2021 fall season about the get underway, the Vanderbilt soccer team earned the No. 18 ranking in the United Soccer Coaches Preseason Poll.
Vanderbilt, the defending SEC Tournament champions, has qualified for the NCAA Tournament in each of the last four seasons.
During the 2020-21 season, the Commodores ranked as high as No. 4 in the Top Drawer poll and No. 6 in the United Soccer Coaches poll. Among Vanderbilt’s returners, 12 played in at least 12 games a season ago. Among the returners are All-SEC performers Maddie Elwell and Ella Shamburger in addition to SEC All-Freshman Team selection Abi Brighton.
The Commodores open with a home exhibition game on Aug. 8 at 7 p.m. versus Chattanooga before a road exhibition match at Memphis on Aug. 13. Vandy’s first official game of the season is Aug. 19 at 7 p.m. versus Tennessee Tech.
