Commodores earn 16th consecutive berth in NCAA Tournament

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – For a Southeastern Conference-best 16th-consecutive season, Vanderbilt is headed to the NCAA Tournament.

The Commodores, who heard their name called during Monday’s NCAA Baseball Championship Selection Show, will be the No. 2 seed at the Corvallis Regional.

Vanderbilt (36-21) is joined by host Oregon State (44-15), No. 3 seed San Diego (36-18) and No. 4 seed New Mexico State (24-32). The Dores open the double-elimination regional on Friday at 3 p.m. CT against San Diego.

The Commodores racked up eight wins against D1Baseball Top 25 opponents this season, while sitting at No. 7 in the NCAA RPI. Vandy boasted the nation’s toughest schedule.

The Commodores are one nine Southeastern Conference teams selected among the field. Vanderbilt is joined by Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Texas A&M.
