TEAM NOTES:
- Saturday’s win was the first victory over a No. 1-ranked team and the first top-five win in program history
- The Commodores were 0-60 against AP top-five opponents coming into today’s contest with No. 1/2-ranked Alabama
- The Dores posted their first win over Alabama since the 1984 season, when Vanderbilt collected a 30-21 victory in Tuscaloosa on Sept. 29
- Diego Pavia, Marlen Sewell and CJ Taylor represented the Commodores for the coin toss. Alabama won the toss and elected to defer
- The defense picked up its second pick six of the season, and fourth in the last two seasons. It was the first pick six that Alabama has given up since 2022 (vs. Georgia 1.10.22)
- Vanderbilt had 20 penalty yards in the game, the least in a game this season
- Vandy has made at least one interception in each contest this season except one
- The offense punched the first score of the game, the first touchdown allowed by the Alabama defense in the first quarter this year
- Vanderbilt had possession for 42:08 of game time
- The Commodores converted 12-of-18 third-down opportunities
- Vandy’s offense registered 26 first downs in the win, the most in a game this season
- Vanderbilt held Alabama to 35 points, the fewest points scored by the Crimson Tide this season
- Vandy is one of three FBS schools, and the only Power-4 program, without an interception this season
- Tonight’s game was the second sell out of the season at FirstBank Stadium
INDIVIDUAL NOTES:
- Diego Pavia threw for two touchdowns, marking the fourth contest this year with multiple touchdown passes in a game
- Pavia totaled 252 passing yards and 56 rushing
- Sedrick Alexander opened up the scoring off a 7-yard run to record his fifth score of the season. Alexander had a career-high 21 carries and finished with a career-high-tying two touchdowns off 64 yards on the ground
- Randon Fontenette posted his first career interception, returning it for a touchdown to end the Crimson Tide’s opening possession
- De’Rickey Wright and Fontenette each picked up a pass break up, the first time for each of them since the opener against Virginia Tech
- Junior Sherrill caught a 34-yard pass in the end zone for his second receiving touchdown of the season, the fifth of his career
- Sherrill became the first Commodore to have more than one touchdown reception this season
- Brock Taylor converted a 33-yard field goal to cap a nine-play, 60-yard drive. Taylor has hit multiple field goals in four out of five games this season
- Eli Stowers caught six passes for a career-best 113 yards, the most receiving yards by an individual this season. In the win, Stowers became the first Vanderbilt tight end to have multiple games with 100-plus receiving yards in a season dating back to at least 1996
- Bryan Longwell has registered at least one tackle for loss in all five games this season. Longwell led the defense for a second consecutive game with eight tackles
- Aeneas DiCosmo has tallied at least one tackle for loss in each of the last three contests
- Miles Capers and Nick Rinaldi took down Alabama QB Jalen Milroe on two separate occasions, earning the Dores a sack in every game this season. Rinaldi’s sack was the first of his career
- Capers forced his first career fumble that was recovered by Yilanan Ouattara, his first career fumble recovery
- Kamrean Johnson scored a touchdown off a 6-yard pass from Pavia for his first touchdown of the season, and third of his career
