TEAM NOTES:
- Vanderbilt scored a touchdown on its opening drive for the fourth straight game. Three of those scores resulted in seven points
- The Commodore defense has picked off three opponent’s opening drives this season (Virginia Tech, Alabama, Texas). Vandy has picked off its opponent in every game this year but two
- Vanderbilt’s two interceptions tonight tied its single-game high (Alcorn State) this year
- The Dores converted those takeaways into 14 points, matching the most points off turnovers recorded in 2024 (Alcorn State)
- Vandy took down Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers four times, matching a season-high four sacks (Virginia Tech)
- The defensive unit tallied a season-high nine tackles for loss for a season-best 41 yards. The defense also posted a season-high six pass breakups
- Vandy’s three losses this season have come by a combined 10 points
- Richie Hoskins, CJ Taylor and Langston Patterson represented the Commodores at midfield for the coin toss. Vandy won the toss and elected to defer.
INDIVIDUAL NOTES:
- Quarterback Diego Pavia finished with 16 completions off 29 attempts for 143 yards and two passing touchdowns. It marks the sixth game this season with multiple throwing touchdowns. Pavia had a team-high 16 carries for a net gain of 67, the fourth this season he has led the team on the ground
- Junior Sherrill had a personal-best five catches for 62 yards and a receiving touchdown
- Kicker Brock Taylor became the first Commodore to make five field goals of 50-plus yards in a career. All five makes have come this season
- Punter Jesse Mirco has three 60-plus yard punts this season after his 60-yarder in the third quarter
- Randon Fontenette posted a career-high-tying eight tackles, including a career-best 2.5 tackles for loss. Fontenette recorded 1.5 sacks, a personal-best
- Miles Capers was credited with a career-high-tying seven tackles and registered the first interception of his career
- Martel Hight jumped in front of a Ewers pass for his second career interception
- Quincy Skinner Jr. finished with three catches for 21 yards, marking four straight games with multiple catches
- Safety CJ Taylor tallied eight tackles, a season-high
- Linebacker Nick Rinaldi posted his fourth straight game with a sack
- Steven Losoya made his 40th career start against Texas, more than any individual on the roster
- De’Rickey Wright registered a season-high eight tackles
- Khordae Sydnor took down Ewers in the fourth quarter for his third sack of the season
- Bryan Longwell led the defense for the third time this season after totaling 11 tackles, his second contest this fall with 10-plus takedowns. That total included a tackle for loss, giving him at least one in every game this year but one
