OKLAHOMA STATE NOTES
- With the loss Oklahoma State is eliminated from the NCAA Regional, ending the season 35-25 overall. It is only the second time in program history the Cowboys have gone 0-2 in the NCAA Regional, with the other coming in 1969. This was the 38th appearance for OSU in the NCAA Regionals, fourth-most all-time.
- Oklahoma State falls to 134-83 in the NCAA Tournament and 11-12 under head coach Frank Anderson. The Cowboys dropped to 10-18 this season in games away from Allie P. Reynolds Stadium.
- OSU starter Brad Propst tossed 7.1 innings in the loss, striking out a career-high 11 batters in the contest. His previous high was eight strikeouts in 2009. The outing was his longest since a complete game on April 30 against Kansas State and the second longest since April 16 of this year.
- Dane Phillips went 0-for-4 in the contest, only the ninth time this season in 60 contests that the sophomore did not get a hit.
BELMONT NOTES
- Belmont improved to 37-25 overall this season with the victory, winning its first-ever NCAA Tournament game in any sport since the Bruins moved to Division I in 1998.
- Nate Woods hit a solo homer in the first inning for the Bruins, his team-leading 13th of the season, moving him into eighth on the single-season list at BU. Woods holds the single-season record for home runs with 20, set in 2010.
- Belmont starter Chase Brookshire worked into the ninth inning, giving up one earned run on two hits.IT marked the fourth time this season he pitched into the ninth inning and was the least hits allowed in 2011. It was also the eighth time this season allowing one earned run or less. Brookshire led the Bruins this season in innings pitched (94.2 before today’s game) and tossed three complete games for the year.
- Jon Ivie posted his 14th save with one inning of work for the Bruins, breaking the single-season record held previously by Blake Owens (2005). Ivie moved within one of the career record for saves (25) held by Bradford Vieria (1994-97) and Chris Manning (2006-08).
