– Vanderbilt started center A.J. Ogilvy, forwards Steve Tchiengang and Jeffery Taylor and guards Jermaine Beal and Brad Tinsley
– Beal leads the team with 45 career starts, including 40 straight, while Ogilvy made his 42nd start. Ogilvy has now started in 43 of 44 career games including all seven this season. The only game Ogilvy didn’t start was senior night last season against Mississippi State. Taylor made his tenth start of his career while Tinsley is making his eighth consecutive start. Steve Tchiengang made the third start of his career.
First Half Notes:
– Vanderbilt won the opening tip
– Vanderbilt’s first field goal of the game came at the 14:52 mark with A.J. Ogilvy’s lay-in.
– With Darshawn McClellan three-pointer at the 13:52 mark in the first half, Vanderbilt extended its streak of consecutive games (708) with a three-pointer, dating back to when the three-point line was established in the 1986-87 season. The Commodores streak ranks second only to UNLV (715) for the longest streak in Division I basketball.
– Five of Vanderbilt’s first nine points came from players off the bench (McClellan, 3) and Drake (2).
– With Ogilvy’s lay-up at the 14:52 mark, Vanderbilt went on a 9-2 run to take an 11-7 advantage. Vanderbilt extended the run to 16-4 to take an 18-9 lead with 8:52 remaining in the first half.
– Ogilvy scored eight of Vanderbilt’s first 18 points.
– Vanderbilt’s Lance Goulbourne returned to action in the first half for the first time since playing in the Morehead State game (Nov. 16). Goulbourne had been out since contracting mononucleosis.

– The Commodores outrebounded the Bulls 17-12 during the first half.
Second Half Notes:
– Leading 32-25 at the 16:34 mark in the second half, Vanderbilt went on an 8-0 run to take a 40-25 lead with 14:13 remaining in the game. Leading 42-26, South Florida responded with a 7-0 run of their own to cut the Vanderbilt lead to nine (42-33) with 11:40 remaining.
– With Steve Tchiengang’s turn around hook Vanderbilt pushed its lead back to 15 points (50-35) with 9:23 remaining.
– With Jermaine Beal’s conventional three-point play Vanderbilt took a 20-point advantage (57-37) with 7:05 remaining.
Postgame Notes:
– With the win, Vanderbilt improves to 7-3 while South Florida falls to 3-5.
– The 19-point win gave Vanderbilt head coach Kevin Stallings his 300th career win and 177th win at Vanderbilt.
– Vanderbilt now leads the all-time series with South Florida 2-1. The teams each have one win on a neutral floor while the other Vanderbilt win came at Memorial Gym.
– Vanderbilt is now 23-36 all-time against members of the Big East Conference.
– Vanderbilt was led A.J. Ogilvy and Jermaine Beal as both of them recorded 20 point performances. Beal’s 20-point effort marks a career high. Beal’s previous career high was (19) against UMass last season (1/5/08).
– Ogilvy added a career-high 13 rebounds to go along with his 20 points. Tuesday’s game marked the first time two Vanderbilt players posted 20-point performances and the first since A.J. Ogilvy and Shan Foster dropped 27 and 26 respectively against Auburn last season (3/13/2008). Ogilvy has now scored in double figures in all 10 games this season.
– The double-double is Ogilvy’s second of the season and sixth of his career. Ogilvy attempted a season-high 13 free throws.
– Vanderbilt outrebounded the Bulls 40-32. The Commodoresis 7-0 when outrebounding its opponent this season
– Ogilvy three steals marks a career high. Beal also added three steals in the win, bringing his season total to 17
– Vanderbilt shot 44.2% (23-52) from the field while holding USF to 34% (18-53) shooting
– After going just 1-7 from downtown in the first half Vanderbilt hit 5-of-6 three’s in the second half to finish 6-13 (46%) for the game
– Vanderbilt committed 21 turnovers while South Florida had 19
– Darshawn McClellan posted a nine-point and five rebound effort in 21 minutes off the bench. The nine points marks a career-high for McClellan and is the most since he scored 10 points against Kentucky on Jan. 10, 2008
– Vanderbilt’s defense held South Florida to 4-17 (23.5%) shooting from beyond the arc.
