2011
elchans provided depth across the offensive front as a redshirt junior… Saw action in eight games, earning snaps at guard and center… Saw action in four straight games, beginning with win over Army when Commodores rushed for 344 yards.

2010
Welchans was forced to play multiple positions because of a thin offensive line corps… Saw action in 11 games, shifting between right tackle and left guard… Opened the season starting at RT against Northwestern and LSU, then moved to LG as a three-game starter after Ryan Seymour returned to his customary RT slot… Minutes diminished during second half of season when coaching staff looked for consistency with same five-person OL lineup.

2009
In first year of action, Welchans played in 10 of 12 games, contributing at right tackle following key injuries to the Commodore offensive line… Did not earn any starts, but saw substantial action as a reserve tackle as season developed… Initial snaps came at right tackle following season-ending injury to James Williams… Relieved Williams[apos] replacement, Reilly Lauer, for much of the season… Played majority of snaps at Tennessee when Lauer was injured.

2008
Welchans redshirted this season, his first on the Vanderbilt campus… Showed excellent talent, and earned the team[apos]s Offensive Scout of the Week honor after Mississippi game.

Senior captain… Two-year starter at OT and DT… Three-year letter winner… Helped squad to district championship and 6A state quarterfinals as senior… Finished 2007 with 49 knockdown blocks… Named first team 6A All-State by writers and coaches… Earned first team All-Metro… Two-time all-conference selection… As senior DT, contributed 41 tackles and three QB sacks… Thrower in track, with 52-foot PR in shot put.
